The game does not have a "pause glitch". It is possible for the connection to time out between players, but that is not the same as a glitch, that is a disconnection.
You have to hit the "resume" button and then wait for 30 seconds...do not touch any other buttons or the countdown clock resets and does not start again until you hit "resume" (or "x" on Ps4 - I think ... it might be "circle") a second time.
Most people do not realize how long 30 seconds is, especially if they are impatient or in a hurry, and they restart the timer without realizing they did it...
