I sometimes do this for Nickle. I play Krause and Champ at CB. I have NTL as my other CB and Reed at my SS. I often switch NTL do SS to cover deep and then have Ed Reed in the box. Works pretty well.
If I play a run heavy team I do keep NTL at CB3 for that ST in the box which it sounds like you want. But yes I’ve moved SS to CB3 often and works pretty well
