If you upgrade the power up cards to point you have an option of using say a 87-88 player to jump above those to the next tier you can use the power up pass in place of place.
Like upgrade Clowney to 86, use power up pass in place of his 87 OVR which is like around 200k then you get an 88.

For OP having versatile guys is key for me but i run 3-4. I use D. Ware like most people use Clowney at LOLB in 3-4 and moves to DE on passing downs in nickel, dime, and dollar. So i would lean Clowney thats just my preference.
