Back to Chase Young

Why should we look at one game when the award is based off of the whole season? Chinn has been one of the few bright spots in a bad Carolina defense. Chinn has the team lead in tackles with 110, 2 FF, 2 FR, and 2 TD, and hell, he has 4 QB hits as well compared to Youngs 9. Chinn has been a player you need to gameplan for while young has been average. But because hes the #2 overall pick, everyone thinks Young should win.

Chase young is the 2nd highest graded rookie defender of the last 5 years, highest graded rookie of this year, top 5 highest graded defense ends, and all that while getting double and triple teamed every play, chinn has all that on an awful defense Bc he does it all since no one else can, young has everything he does on one of the best defenses in the league, where he has to split stats with everyone else because they are all incredible, it’s not even close, Chase young > chinn 100/100 times

SilentWolf

Whose grading these rookies? Kinda hard to prove a point without a source. And if you say PFF, just know that they are in no way credible.

baileyspore

Lmao how is PFF, the grading system that every professional sports system in the country uses, not credible, they just use math, that’s all it is, everything chase young has done has been miles better than anything chinn has done

SilentWolf

Because PFF isnt in the huddle. They don't know what players assignments are, they don't know what the play actually is. They just tag numbers on players who they think are playing better than others. You also cant grade two different players who play different positions on the same 100 point scale. If we go by whose had more of an impact to their team, which is what the award should be, Chinn should be DROY.

baileyspore

2 things, 1, you aren’t in the huddle either lmao, 2, chase young’s impact to this team has been WAY more than chinns to the panthers, chase young has completed transformed Washington’s defense

SilentWolf

I may not be in the huddle, but by doing something called watching the game, I can tell that Chinn has been everywhere. Young doesn't even lead his own team in sacks. He hasn't been as disruptive as your making him out to be. Chinn is one of two players on that Panthers defense making a difference. Hes carrying that defense as much as he can. He has a redzone interception, numerous touchdown saving tackles, 9 games with 8 tackles or more, a strip sack that nearly led to a defensive touchdown, and back to back fumble return touchdowns, one of which he stripped the ball himself. Chinn has been a beast and a playmaker. Not that Young hasn't either, but Chinn has played at a whole different level than Young.
