I use it although I have not been willing to put in the time to see just how effective it is so I'm usung it on faith more than anything. I have noticed that I haven't been getting killed by edge threats (I dont use edge protector) but that's just an observation so that and $8 will get you a cup of Starbucks.
With regards to your comments about blitzes, I wouldn't expect it to make the O line magically smarter and block guys that they normally miss. If I had to guess, protected would just help engaged linemen hold their blocks for slightly longer but probably no more than one second on average. If someone went in and tested this in game like gutfoxx has done with QB releases and gunslinger I would certainly be interested in watching that to know the true effect protected has but for now I'll roll with it
