If the Panthers got Watson, he would be a cap hit of 42 and 50 mill. in 2023 and 2024... the projected total cap next year is 180 mill. There is zero chance the Panthers could pay Jones in the open market and have Watson. Watson alone is going to count for 30% of your total cap... you would have to add talent through the draft, but also trade all your good picks for him. If Watson didn't have the second highest salary in the NFL then this would be a different type of trade. It's literally trade your entire future for 1 player.
