Man exactly the bad version would get 25 tds and 10picks. He has the skill to be good just needs a coach that wants to put the work into him. And coming into that draft most “experts” had him as the best qb while I said mahomes was the best. Turns out I was right and they were wrong but one thing for sure is I respect the hell out of trubisky for putting up with out the slander and shit talk! Dude went out there and smiled and gave it his best. Dude has potential he just needs a coach to bring it out. And I’m honestly happy for what he did for us.
As for Rodgers I kinda want him to stay so we can beat the packers at their best and kinda want him gone cuz hes always kicked out asses. Hopefully he stays so we can get some good games this year in our division
WARNING-I'm a little buzzed after the Bucks Game 7 WIN...so I rambled a bit and probably made this TLTR.
Yeah, I thought Watson would be a good QB. Not great. Like a mobile Jimmy G. Someone who could run, make the smart throw, but I didn't know he had the elite arm talent. I knew Mahomes had the potential to be great, but I saw an undisciplined QB from the Big12 who put up gaudy numbers as they all do...I actually thought pretty much the same about him as I do about Love as a matter of fact. COULD be great...probably gonna be erratic. But in our case, I was hoping we'd be able to sit Love for 3 years as we did Rodgers who looked AWFUL the first two years he was in GB(and likely woulda been run out of town if he'd been drafted in a big market and asked to start right away). Teams can ruin QB's. Sam Darnold for example. That guy has a TON of talent...and now finally the Jets are building an OL for him as they draft his successor!
Anyway, you're right. Trubisky was the consensus #1 QB prospect and the consensus #3 overall prospect that year. There was no debate. Not sure why you traded up...but..whatever. I actually think your problem in Chicago is Pace, not Nagy. I think Nagy could thrive with the right QB(maybe it's Fields). But Pace is hit or miss.
I kinda wonder if the Packers aren't better off trading Rodgers. Not this year, but next year. IF he sits out this year...it's not like it'll hurt his trade value next year. If anything, it'll help it and the Packers would save 39 million against the cap, PLUS the 30 million he's already been paid for the next 3 years. Plus, right now it'd be Denver, Miami and MAYBE Oakland. And the picks wouldn't be until 2022 anyway. So if he plays, we make another run. If he sits out, teams will still want him 10 months from now after he's rested for a year and VERY angry the Packers didn't trade him.
So if the "rumored" proposal from the Broncos was true, 3 1sts, Bradley Chubb, Surtain and then Bolles for Rodgers and then we'd have to give them our 1st round CB Stokes...that 1st is likely going to be a top 15 pick, Chubb, Rashan Gary and Za'Darius would be a great trio of pass rushers. Surtain and Jaire Alexander an awesome duo at CB, and Bolles(don't believe they'd ever actually include him in a trade...in fact, I don't think they'd include Surtain and Chubb+ 3 1sts, but hypothetically)...then you'd have two elite tackles.
So now you'd save 40 million from the Cap...and while our GM really bungled how he handled Rodgers, he's been SOOO much better at drafting and signing FA's in the three years he's been here than the last 3-4 years under Thompson. Now lets say Love isn't Mahomes(that's not realistic) but he's Mahomese light. He has the arm talent, but he's a 30 TD/10 Pick guy with a cannon and he's mobile. Well...then the Packers could actually go out, sign Free Agents, they'd have a ton of draft picks and they'd have to rely on their QB like the 49'ers relied on Jimmy G a few years ago.
Now...again, that was easily the BEST trade proposal I've seen thrown out(I think it was from the Athletic)...but that seems like an overpay even to me. If Denver gives up their LT, an elite young Pass Rusher and a top 10 pick at CB....they won't have enough to compete with KC even with 12. So we'll have to see.
Either way, I think Love is talented but he has a HUGE ceiling and a VERY low floor. Could be out of the league in 3 years, could be throwing for 40 TD's in 3(more likely the prior than the latter, but I do trust Gutekunst). And admit it....as a Bears fan, you know you're a LITTLE bit worried that Love is going to be Mahomes 2.0...right! LOL...just a tiny bit that you'll have had to go from Favre to Rodgers to a guy with a CANNON who's bigger and faster than Rodgers with just as big of an arm?
If love truly reaches his full potential then the north is gonna be so damn amazing to watch. With fields love and Kellen Monds! Currently I haven’t heard much great news about love so I don’t think he’s near what he should be at.
I still feel Nagy is the problem trynna be cute with his play calling and trying to look like the smarter coach. I also fee pace had to do something with trubisky all of a sudden trying to be a pocket passer. When they kept him in the pocket he lost his best weapon which is his legs to make plays. Much like mahomes and Watson trubiskys beat plays come from when he’s moving around not standing still like a Brady or a Manning type qb.
Anyways as a bears fan I can honestly say I am not afraid of love until I see some amazing clips of him. I’ve can be great no doubt but truly I feel like it won’t happen. Which would be great since you packer fans had 2 back to back hall of fame QBs
Actually...and this is really meaningless, but the beat writers and everyone was talking about how great Love looked in this last camp. But I kinda expect that. He's got a great arm and if there's no real pass rush, you should be making those Mahomes level throws....in shoulder pads and a helmet. There are a dozen QB's in this league who have arm talent that's at least somewhat close to Mahomes.
Ya gotta do it when people are flying around, you've got two guys in your face and you throw the ball because you FEEL the guy getting open and you know the timing.
So I get ya, until you actually see him do it in a game, I don't care if he hit Allen Lazard on a perfect deep ball on the move in PRACTICE...we talking about PRACTICE....not the game(alright, I'm done).
I have no clue what to expect of him...no clue what Fields will be(I'm not high on him, but if you knew my recent track record of predicting QB success, that'd make you confident he'd be a HOF'er). I really like Mond just because he'll be under the radar, but he's got a lot of talent. Reminds me of a more refined Jalen Hurts.
