I think in this situation its due to cod and pursuit. Karlaftis has absolutely terrible cod at 74. He may look like he is squared up to mahomes in this case but you're likely not so during that moment you have really low acceleration until you're running in a complete straight line. After that point its pursuit. Karlaftis has bad pursuit at 87 so he isnt running down anyone.
