Dig into those numbers dude. 1000 snaps only 72 targets. 37 rec for 491 yds. Dude obviously wasn't covering teams #1 receiver and also was only covering underneath routes. If you team doesn't trust you to cover the number 1 or to cover deep you can't be in the consideration for top in the league.
I’m not disagreeing with you that he didn’t cover the top WR every play. However, the Steelers and plenty of other teams typically don’t have their corners shadow a receiver. The Steelers also didn’t need to do that this year with their combination of Nelson, Haden, and Hilton. Just because he may not have covered a top receiver every snap of every game doesn’t mean the numbers don’t put him up there with the top CBs this season. He was also ranked as the 7th best CB by PFF at the end of the regular season. I’m not saying he was the top or even top 3, but he was absolutely one of the top this year. I’m more than happy to agree to disagree with you on this.
Best corners in the league? I've never even heard of this guy! Looked him up and he had 1 into 8 pd and on 50% completion. Not top in the league.
Look at this comparison to some of the all-pro/pro bowl corners this year. If you think he isn’t one of the best in the league then you’re delusional. https://twitter.com/markkaboly/status/1217172855353499650?s=21
