Do they count return yards? I thought it was just rushing & passing yards. Not to mention the yardage threshold seems to be 400 yards. When I was trying to level up Ricky Williams and build Shazier I would routinely run up 900 or more passing yards in a game and even hit the 1000 mark a couple of times. Never got more XP than the 25 or whatever they give you for 400 offensive yards. Now, mind you, they probably shouldn't change that but a separate XP category for special teams I think would be reasonable.

I can't imagine this hasn't been brought up before but I just finished a solo challenge that in which I blocked a field goal and returned a kick-off for a TD and realized that there are no XPs given for these types of plays. Would it not make sense to receive XP for special teams play as well as standard offense/defense? Not every play mind you but something (even 5 XP) for blocking a kick/punt and either a kick-off/punt return for a TD.
Just a thought
