Wow Really EA & NFL Owners Seriously.. Cash Cow Electronic Arts & NFL To extend Exclusive License trough 2026 season :(
People should be thankful, you know exactly what you will get for the next 6 years.
I'm going to assume that the majority of profits involving Madden come from their Ultimate Team mode.. and a majority of the big spenders are card collecting or team building enthusiasts. In that regard, Madden does a damn fine job at providing an experience that can suck you up if you're into team building, card collecting, and auction house shenanigans.
Though Madden is supposed to represent an authentic sim style NFL football experience, I'd argue that the target audience is the card collecting hobbyists that I mentioned above... They are the ones who will spend the large amounts of $$$ on the games microtransactions.
Below that is the hardcore players who do the pro tournaments. They will find a meta and break the game no matter how well built it is.. because that's just a inevitable flaw in game design period. This group also spends some $$$ to get a team capable of winning the big sanctioned tournaments.
And then below that is the franchise mode, casual player who doesn't spend any additional money on the game.. as is most likely the least happy customer of the bunch because the modes they enjoy are the ones that make EA the least amount of $$$ therefore get the least amount of attention and resources from EA.
I'd argue that for a good % of the general population, Madden is a 'decent' game to just pick up a controller and play a game or two against the AI or with a friend. They don't necessarily see all the things wrong with the game that the Pro players or 'hardcore' audience sees.
At the end of the day, people smarter or richer than us sat in a board room and concluded that the best way to make the most amount of $$$ for everyone involved is to continue to sell an exclusive license to just one developer. It is what it is. Just separate yourself from this hobby if it brings you nothing but pain, frustration, or sadness. You have to make peace with the fact that there are enough people out there that fuel EAs sales of this game to allow the exclusivity to continue and that you probably won't get what you want anytime soon, if ever. And in that case, you'll just have to cut ties with football gaming and move on to a new hobby until something changes, if ever.
Madden has been invincible since the sega genesis black cartridge with the yellow 16 bit square on the side, it game grew up with us. It is and will be undefeated, folks have been trying to boycott since 17
If It makes sense money wise the NFL and Ea will keep the monopoly going For us it means Ea will have no competition and no need to get better They may lose some of us but they get more first times every Madden season And I’m sure they factor in the turnover and Dont care
I saw a couple articles about it today. I'm kinda bummed. I know I saw a lot of people were excited for an alternative. But the NFL is a greedy place even outside of the video game market, so this doesn't really surprise me.
I’m a pretty casual Mut player and I follow 52 professional Mut streamers - 52 - these are just a fraction of the Mut you tubers- the professional streamers are dependent on this game for income-no way they would boycott madden- this isn’t the Star Wars community- it’s a way of life to them
unfortunately you are correct as well those streamers are a big part of the problem & are clear cut EA Fanboys they are too blind to see their apart of the problem & are why EA will not change..
They don't realize there being played & lied to by EA & there in denial when it comes to seeing the game is in such a bad state.. i pray one day they will wake up outta bed & realize what a fool they were to allow EA to Con them & sucker them & brainwash them into thinking they were playing a really good game once they realized they weren't i hope they too stop supporting EA & MUT...
Otherwise we are looking at EA sports football for ps6 ps7 ps8 & beyond... & i know we don't want the same game even then so let's start sending a message this next generation folks this way come 2026 the NFL can finally move on from EA! Man that will be a great day whenever it finally happens! & ain't no denying that! Good night.
I feel you man. But asking these guys to not buy Madden is like asking them to give up their rights lmao. The support for this game is moronic at this point. Complain complain complain and ask “why does this game suck so bad” fully realizing that WE can force them to make a better game, simply by not playing it. But some dude called me a quitter the other day cause I don’t play anymore, so THAT’S the type of audience you’re talking to.
I feel ya man & don't get me wrong I've been a bjg madden supporter since I 1st played game on N64 & I used to love madden with a passion
But over the last few years even I have noticed & have grown sick &, tired of EA Shanangans & I'm smart enough to see there is a huge problem & there's only one solution to resolving it..
But everyone fails to see it & they come on here & whine about h2h & all that well if you really want h2h fixed & more you know what you have to do..
But if you buy madden or continue supporting mut don't come here complaining about how bad game is because you're apart of the problem instead of the solution..
& i used to be a madden ea fan boy & would Always back up EA but I come to see what an Evil company they are & how they don't care about there customers..
So if I can turn on EA everyone else can too.. it took me years to see there was a problem & I've caught on now.. & after seeing this terrible news I doubt very seriously I'll even buy madden 21 at all now..
I may very well sit it out in the ps5 era as a boycott & protest for a change..
I'd encourage others to do the same..
I love football like everyone else but i cannot love & support a game anymore that doesn't meet the expectations it should & especially from a company who only cares about the $$$$
I know people gotta have there football fix but there's other ways to get it.. i know it hard but man how can we ever expect things to get better if people continue to support EA.. do we really want to go through 20 more years of this? I know I sont& won't
I have bought every madden since n64 & this is the 1st year where I really don't want to buy it now & as a madden gamer myself it's hard yes but I also know I'm joining the long list of people who stopped playing that want change or a better game..
Little kids & teenagers have no idea that there being played for a fool by EA who lies to get you to buy there game best thing people can do is not believe them because that's how you can convince yourself not to buy..
I hate that people called you a quitter but honestly you did the right thing & smart thing & until people join you & me they can never expect things to improve..

Everything you said is 100% true & it's comical how people still buy this junk after Christmas... & the amount of people still playing this daily just blows my mind & it just shows why nothing will change with EA & the same folks who come here complaining will be back here doing it again next year & the year after that & the year after that & so on not learning from there mistake & stupidity..

Because all the NFL owners See is $$$$$$$$ we will never see competition or a great game until the Cash Cows at EA start losing $$$$ & when EA loses $$$$ the NFL Owners lose $$$$ & they don't like to lose $$$$
If you all ever want to make a statement & force EA to make a better game then they'll need competition because i can guarantee you it will be the same ol game just a different year & with new broken plays & more..

How long is it going to take for you to open your eyes & realize there's a huge problem here.. until people stop supporting MUT & EA there's never gonna be another football game...i hope someday people come to there senses & realize we need more then 1 football game & that it won't happen until we start hitting EA & the NFL where it hurts which is in the wallet! Only then will we get a football game we can all enjoy! As competition brings out the best in compines..
So here to 6 more years of the same game I hope by then every one will finally realize they been played & fooled & lied too by EA One to many times & demand competition by stopping the support of this game.. only then will things ever get better..
