It is not any different from any previous MM. You always save junk. People used to exchange players for trophies. It was fine if you needed them or you needed coins. But people who saved would always be ahead when PH/Boss were dropped.

This already exist. I think they added it probably today or yesterday. It is in the Core Sets where the other OVR upgrade sets are.

There is another post saying that there is an exchange under the core tab.
He was most likely referring to NY where you used UF players in that set and alot of them at that. This promo was not even made yet as you can see by how much content

I can't remember what thread it was in, but when the Field of Freeze sets first dropped, and someone asked about the FoF point exchange set for old promo masters, he said something the long the lines of: "These cards could come in handy sooner rather than laters". I think he could have been referring to this promo.
So while we were all complaining about the UF promo, it did, along with FoF and the NFL 100 sets, effectively give us opportunity to acquire tons of these cards in preparation of this promo. I'm sure this helped a lot of people get a head start on this promo.
For those that chose the FO points route for all those cards that wouldnt sell due to price floors, I do believe we were at least given a slight heads up on this one. That's not always the case as we all know.
