I hope all of you had the Merriest Christmas & the Happiest New Year! I went through a small bought of withdrawals when I quit. Still haven't played since Black Friday morning and now don't even want to. HOWEVER, because I am the worst quitter in the history of quitters (shoutout to waterchickens31 for the label) I did venture into something I have found to be quite enjoyable........MUT on console.
Let's get a few things straight:
It is still EA, so the usual silliness still applies. Money still rules, NTO's are still very much a thing, and I am way behind.
There are absolutely just as many people complaining about how poor console is, just as there are in mobile, which baffles me because those people clearly never played mobile. In my mind there is no comparison.
I am actually having a blast playing console. Zero Chill has been a ton of fun. Theme teams are so much easier to build. Gameplay, graphics, and the user experience are far superior (of course that isn't saying much since my comparison point is a mobile version). I splurged and got the $99 MVP Holiday Deluxe Edition on sale in the Microsoft store for $34! It included 11 gold fantasy packs and 3 legend fantasy packs which were great to get my Lions theme team started. It is an absolute grind yes. however, you can grind at your own pace because when they release a portion of the program, it doesn't disappear when the new one releases, they all stay for grindability over the course of the entire thing. I have played Madden on either the PC or a console since it's inception, but hadn't ever really ventured into MUT, I mostly just played exhibitions, seasons, and played my kids. I still don't play the Yard or Superstar KO, or Weekend Leagues because console can be intimidating when you first login. Lots to digest, but after a few sessions, you get it.
Anyway, I am sure there are pitfalls, drawbacks, and negatives; but as of yet I haven't had any issues other than being tired from grinding late at night when I get off work while the fam is sleeping. For those of you looking for something different, something new but old at the same time, I highly recommend the experience. Definitely more time consuming, but there is no real rush to hurry up and grind. No stamina to deal with, and while money will always rule, you can build a competitive team rather quickly and just have some fun like we did when we were kids. I have been pleasantly surprised.
Anyway, Hope everyone's 2021 is off to a banging start! Till next time Pirates....
