Counters vs Defensive Strategy

I liked it when I could study film and figure out what gameplans an opponent used against certain run/pass plays. Only thing I hated were 100% counters. This year EA simply turned up the defensive A.I to the point they ARE the offense and your team is just playing catch-up....

Defense doesn’t work this year with Power...

To be stopped you have to have a deficiency of power or to be stupid.... if you’re even, you should get 20-24 in lvl every time.

Live counters and 100% counters made this WAY better LVL.

I'm not sure if its popular or unpopular but I love the way they setup Defensive Game-plans this year. Setting what plays are called during different circumstances is great. Do you try to snuff run 100% on first down or do you try throw a play in there to shut down passing? So you have 1 play that crushes it on 2pt conversion! Great but do you run it every time? It surely doesn't work against all schemes. I'm always trying to tinker with mine and not having to live counter is a blessing. 

Having the option to plan your Defensive roster around a scheme is VERY cool. Investing in that Dime Corner is alot easier if you know your D is running Nickel and DIme alot. "Do I need BKS on my Nickel or is he strictly coverage?" these are the things that keep me hooked.

What I Really don't like is the way EA has consistently buggered with the AI without letting us know. One Minute Dbacks are on Cocaine and Steroids, the next minute everyone is fumbling..... sure part of that is progression but they are obviously tweaking the AI behind the scenes, If that wasnt going on I don't really see ppl complaining about Defensive Strategy............  Also for god sake can we get some LVL rewards!!

The new system has so much potential. Counters were always kind of a lame crutch for a weak AI. Some key improvements I would like to see:

Defensive game film with the name of the play used for every play. Currently there is no way to gauge success except on a turnover. A few situational categories added, such as Red Zone or goal line/4th and inches. Multiple gameplans that can be assigned to each opponent, similar to previous years. Along with more advanced scouting of opponents. Currently the top 3 plays are shown including Overdrive gameplay. Film should be isolated to LvL gameplay only.

I really like the new system. But there could be some features added, for example information how well your d# performes against what playcall -> how good x formation worked/how much yards average gained against that formation. Its also hard to tell why you get an interception. Was is "luck", user error and so on. Who gets the sack/pressure or makes a tackle. This would also help a lot for positoning players.

Seeing no "feedback" makes things pretty hard to judge. You just know if things work or not. With gameplans you know what plays you counter. If a counter got beaten you know you dont need them and exchanged it (Slot attack as we all know for example)

I think you meant to say soft counters and high snaps. The thing with gameplans is that there's only 1 defensive play associated with an offensive play. Now, you can have multiple defensive plays in different formations and actually have control of what defense the opponent faces in LvL.
