Is there a reason to build presents prior to Christmas?

I haven't built any presents yet, figuring, if pattern holds form previous years/promos, we'll still be able to build afterwards, when we will know what the presents are.

Some may want the fun of opening on the day, but considering the work/currency put in, wouldn't we want to know the value of what we're getting?

Or am I missing something?
