Zones might just be random (like pass rush, run blocking etc)
I'm at a point where i have absolutely no more understanding of how the zones are playing at what they are good against.
There's just absolutely no consistency to what zones cover what routes. You have someone spamming C and Out Routes, you go put your UL Woodson in a cloud flat and shade him outside - covers everything, gets picks, you're loving it. Very next game same plays, same defensive adjustments - nothing.
Then you go on and try say a Cover 3 Sky and let ST go to work - covers everything, you're loving it. Next game might not be working again against the very same routes and even exact same plays. I dont get it.
The whole obscure mixture of stats, traits, chemistry, adjustments, coaching adjustments and whatever plays a roll just makes for a lot of RNG if you ask me. Another good example is a play like HB Pitch which has nothing to do with zone coverage - but, you can look up all the 'pro setups' to stop it etc. if brandin cooks consistently holds his block against NTL or Woodson for several seconds even manned up, what are you going to do? I had that happening before where a Cover 4 pressed with spreaded LB's, underneath coverage and manned up WRs + run committing to the correct side would result in a TD even when i had favorable matchups all over the field.
