I'm glad Kenny Easley made the hall of fame recently. He was phenomenal safety. He's another example of a terrific player whose career was cut short in its own tragic way, as was Eric Turner's.
People forget how good Bob Sanders and Roy Williams were during this same timeframe.
just pure impact of a game from a safety position I dont recall anyone like Polamalu...Lott was something as well but not like Troy.... It always seemed Polamalu was at the end are very close to the ball on every single play.. run or pass

No disrespect but I guess yall never saw Bob Sanders or John Lynch play no need to even mention Troy Polamalu, Dawkins or Ed Reed, yall trippin I give Sean his credit being a defensive playmaker but on Madden he is a god in real life receivers feard him I rarely saw him lay the wood on a running back unlike BOB Sanders, Seans best hit was on a freaking punter come on man !!! Bobs best hit was a foreced fumble in a SUPERBOWL THAT CHANGED THE WHOLE MOMENTUM OF A GAME ON CEDRIC BENSON in a year he won the DEFENSIVE MVP give Sean all the coverage skills you would like and a good hit power but dont let this dude run around with Out My Way at LB like he was a god only safties that fit that category should be Dawkins, Lynch, Atwater, Lott and Bob Sanders and even then dont let it be OP the way this new Sean is.
Quote from SoulBrutha305 >> I knew sean. Used to hang out with him when he went to Miami and when he played for the redskins.
In his rookie year (21 years old), Sean was intimidating probowlers like TO and Moss. In his final year he was performing like the best safety in the league. Don’t use his hitting style (now illegal) to discredit his ability to play in today’s game. He’s not lynch. He could cover man2man, stop RBs in the alley immediately after contact, elite range in a deep shell, etc....
Watch the hightlights. Probably the best college safety, ever. 2 interceptions in the national title game against the buckeyes. 2 interceptions in his first nfl game. 1 man show in the 03 victory over Florida state. He showed up to every big game. During his last year at Miami he locked down Future hall of fame wr Larry Fitz 1v1. Capped it off with a pick on a deep out. A lot of people don’t know that he was even heavier in college. His playing weight was over 230 and he was clocked st a 10.6 in 4*100 relay at that weight.
He isn’t overrated at all. His stats have been so poor this whole year. It took EA a long time before they gave him some updated attributes. He wasn’t a go to FS until they released his UL card.
Quote from Dislimb420 >> Let me preface this by saying that I was an actual fan of Sean Taylor’s when he played and was already in my mid-20s when he was drafted:
In terms of overall value in real life, he is certainly overrated. He had an AV of 8 in each of his first 3 NFL seasons. That is a “good” number for a safety, but certainly not a “great” one. In his 4th and final season, he put up an AV of 9 in just 9 games and was on pace for an AV of 16. Now that is an outstanding number for a safety... but, that was just his pace for the current year and he didn’t actually achieve it. Even if he wasn’t murdered by the cowardly pieces of shit that broke into his house, he still wouldn’t have fulfilled that pace since he was out with a knee injury that had already caused him to miss 2 games and was likely to have kept him out for several more.
Quote from tywebb24 >> I get it he was good for his short time in the league. I understand the what could have been thing. This might be an unpopular opinion but I’m also wondering if anyone else thinks this way too.
Can someone just tell me where Palomalu is every year??????
Quote from slickterine >> respect to sean taylor but Derwin James looks better then all of em.. hes basically sean taylor but bigger and faster which is scary AF
I was going to say you were wrong, but then I did some research. You are right. Derwin made more tackles and had more passes deflected than Taylor ever had in a year. Also, Taylor averaged 3 INTs a year, which is what Derwin had this year. So your statement actually makes sense.

Take away ed reed, and atwater...Who was better during his time period?
Keeping in mind this is a game, and he is 6'2 220 Knocking people out and in his last year shutting down the deep ball...who makes a better choice?
Its not just skins fans, but the nfl and the greats say he was on his way to a hall of fame career.
Sensitve subject bro.

We talkin IRL or in MUT?
IRL I absolutely agree, but not in Madden.
^ agree with this. Ed Reed could be the greatest safety of all-time. Tom Brady IS the greatest QB of all-time.....but in MUT...it's Vick.

In reality, Taylor was an excellent prospect but never truly reached his full potential. A physical specimen to be sure, but definitively not anywhere near the caliber of player as several of his peers were. There have been plenty of safeties in the NFL that were better than him from an overall value-based standpoint that get absolutely no attention at all.
