Why I have lost hope that Peyton Manning or John Elway is coming (Reasoning Inside)

For starters, EA has shown that they give little to no care and consideration for certain teams, like the Panthers, Dolphins, Colts, Broncos and a few others.

This is my reasoning for the lack of the cards, and the title.

Broncos: After a lackluster 5-11 season, the Broncos have shown that they are on the brink of being a good team, but need a year or two. The lack of player upgrades such as Garrett Bolles (78 OVR), Justin Simmons (89 OVR), Courtland Sutton (89 OVR), and Phillip Lindsay (79 OVR) are crazy for all of our good players. I understand that injuries plagued my team, but that shouldn't be the reason that players don't get cards. The team's record should also not matter, but it is my belief that it is the only thing that EA looks at when determining care releases. Also, EA is only about the money, so if you are a fan of a team that doesn't sell packs, then you kind of get the shaft. We also have a lot of Legendary players who rarely, if ever, see the mode of Ultimate Team. Players such as Lyle Alzado, Willie Brown, Tom Jackson, Karl Mecklenburg, Matt Lepsis, Demaryius Thomas, Tom Nalen, Gary Zimmerman, Mark Schlereth, Floyd Little, Neil Smith, Trevor Pryce, Al Wilson, Terrell Davis and Randy Gradishar, just to name a few. A lot of these players are not viewed as Legendary is the average fan's eyes, but to Broncos fans, these are the defining players for our franchise. The fact that the same teams have 2 or 3 90+ overall Quarterbacks and I have 92 Tim Tebow is crazy to me. John Elway exists, and would be an amazing card to be released this year. The one year when Scramblers are good (Madden 20) is the year where I am not given Pocket Passers. The one year when Pocket Passers are good (Madden 21) I am given a Scrambler. It seems that Broncos Theme Teams cannot win with EA.

Colts: The Colts were very good this season, but shot themselves in the foot to end their season. Despite their tragic end, they are still given solid cards at a relatively good rate. However, the only reason that they were given Philip Rivers (95 OVR) and Darius Leonard (95 OVR) is because they made the Playoffs. TY Hilton (95 OVR) was based on a Past Performance. The Colts have arguably the best Offensive Line in the League, but in MUT they are lackluster. Anthony Castonzo (96 OVR), Quenton Nelson (90 OVR), Ryan Kelley (88 OVR), Mark Glowinski (81 OVR), and Braden Smith (79 OVR). Castonzo had to be their LTD player due to him being their only non-upgraded Base Elite, and because he had just retired, so they pushed out his card. Quenton Nelson at a 90 is laughable considering that his Fullback card is a 93. The Colts seem to get an even mix of Current and Past cards, so Peyton Manning isn't entirely out of the question, but you have to think about the amount of other players with mid-90 overall cards who need upgrades.

Basically, Peyton Manning and John Elway will not be in the Playoff Promo, due to Joe Montana just releasing today. The last hope will be Super Bowl Legend or Super Bowl Past, but my reasoning for them not coming is that Peyton Manning is not part of that deal between the FGA and EA, even though Elway is. Other players still could come though due to individual deals made by EA. However, they have the rights to Joe Namath, who is my pick for a Super Bowl Legend.

You may be thinking, "m1k3y6i2, you talk about this so much about your team not getting cards. Won't you ever stop?"

My answer to that is simply, "No."

Until my team gets more than 1 Elite Offensive Lineman and a good Quarterback, I will not stop. I personally guarantee that if your team didn't get cards in multiple promos, you would be complaining as well.

Thanks for reading everyone.

Colts have got 4 95 cards, a 93, and a 92 within the last two weeks. They’re making up for the slow start. I would like to see an upgrade on the right side of the o-line, though

Complaining about Legends is always tricky, because there's a lot we don't know behind the scenes on licensing. I have no idea why Elway, or Steve Young, or Walter Payton aren't in the game this year for example, but I suspect it's more about monetary issues than a deliberate choice by EA.

That being said, other teams have it worse than the Broncos in terms of Legends / former players... you all have:

  • Ed McCaffery (Team Captain)
  • Shannon Sharpe
  • Steve Atwater
  • Champ Bailey
  • John Lynch
  • Vernon Davis
  • Elvis Dumervil
  • Tim Tebow
  • Jamaal Charles
  • Tony Dorsett
  • Brian Dawkins
  • Quentin Jammer
  • Chris Harris Jr
  • Tracy Porter
  • Dominique Rodgers Cromartie

From a numbers perspective this is better than the majority of other teams, including a much more storied Franchise, the Green Bay Packers.

Isn’t peyton in every madden? Like that’s a given card, you can’t just not have him

PScrabro

I'm guessing Elway gets one eventually... should get a Super Bowl legend imo. I'm guessing Peyton is not coming... but just a guess.

Your posts are always good readings. Last time the Broncos was well treated was in MUT 18, with high caliber ultimate legends such as Trevor Pryce and Terrell Davis. But the Colts are getting good cards and you can expect Quenton Nelson to receive a TOTY then a 99 later on.

m1k3y6i2

Thanks, and I agree about Nelson being TOTY. I'm honestly hoping for a Bolles TOTY also.

lunatikdl

Why not just, use another card lol. You’re nit picking like a mofo

m1k3y6i2

Because I love my team, and shouldn't have to have the best cards to win.

lunatikdl

Well no, but fundamentally using a worse card SHOULD put you at a disadvantage, it’s either “stats don’t matter” or “my teams cards aren’t good enough”

m1k3y6i2

Yeah, but I shouldn't have to have 99's literally everywhere to be able to win a game. You should be able to win using pretty much any card as long as there isn't too much of an overall gap between a matchup.

lunatikdl

Then why have numerical stats I’m the game. You can make up scheme for some ovr dip, but it gets to the point where there has to be a big difference between players. My 98 strahan should shed your gold linemen like crazy, you’re doing this to yourself and then complaining abt it lmao

I would suggest a hybrid TT 25/50 × 2. Maybe the Raiders.

Jacoby_Jacrispy

Hey. Many players deserve cards that come out later. Steve Largent doesn't even have a card yet. Elway might be an ultimate legend.

Dirk26

I highly doubt we are getting any more players who aren't in the game already. EA released some new additions for TotW, but have really stopped adding new players to the game for almost the last month. If I'm reading between the lines correctly, EA is doing EVEN LESS than normal and has packed it in for the year. They are just recycling old releases and giving them upgrades while not really adding anything new.

Some teams always get served - this year, the Broncos fans have legit gripe. Going from seeing Manning and Elway just about every year to not seeing them at all is surprising. I'm assuming we will see at least one of them as part of the SuperBowl Promo, but really can't believe we haven't seen at least one of them yet. It also seems like promos have gone cold for Denver, with nothing notable other than Atwater in the last 6 weeks or so.

Dirk26

Before Atwater, the only other one that was remotely relevant was Von Miller for Harvest. We got an 83 TE for Most Feared. They really have skipped the Broncos this year.

GT Tebow is possible

Meh that’s a statement of a fan of a team. I would say every team in Your division is in a better spot than the Broncos right now. You can point out if you had a better QB but that’s usually the caveat to most bottom 10 teams.

It’s ok bro, head up, stay hopeful no matter what until it is done

With teams like the jags I could almost understand it. Small fan base teams wouldn't be money makers for them. The Broncos have a large fan base, so from a monetary standpoint it'd make sense for them to have alot of decent players. That also applied to winning teams like the steelers that they've dropped a ton of cards for. It could just be a priority thing, where they would do the more popular teams first and move down the line, so there could still be upgrades coming for the neglected teams but they just decided on doing the steelers/raiders/niners etc first.

GGerz

i guess no love for TD....

m1k3y6i2

I just named a few, but I'll add him. Honestly slipped my mind for some reason

picle_113

Probably because they give players like mcgahee and Charles cards diminishing the chance of the best broncos rb ever. I still want to see him

von11

I'm thinking they gotta bring Elway. Elway card would be big money for them and they ain't gonna leave money on the table.

picle_113

Wish they were in the game, would be nice to not see gannon for once

m1k3y6i2

Same. It's either Gannon or Josh Allen

Idk how they gave Montana a playoff card and not a SB. If they did that that would make it so Elway could get a card for the AFCC game week, which that evil man deserves sadly

Thank GOD EA has no interest in balancing theme teams. That would be an insanely boring content disaster.
