I used to be against playing with a TT because I thought there is no way a theme team can be as good as a team of rockstars...
I changed my tune about 2 years ago. Currently running a cowboys theme team and I am sitting at a 93 overall and 94 defense.
I still need to upgrade: 96 renfro, 93 Byron, 96 Parsons, 95 ware, 93 ratliff on defense. This may bring my defense up to a 95.
I also need to upgrade: 93 La'el Collins, 95 Irvin, 94 Keyshawn, 94 Lamb.
Currently sitting at 52/50 cowboys. I am going to upgrade my kicker and punter until I can get decent cowboys cards for these positions. Zuerlin is too inaccurate in playoff games and at long distance if there is an iota of controller lag. Punter would be nice so if you are playing a sweaty game, punting becomes a viable option.
With the upgrades I mentioned I would need to spend about 2 million on defense and 1 million on offense. This would allow me to have every good cowboys card all the way up and potentially a 94/95 or 95/95.
Cowboys are likely going to clinch a playoff spot this weekend so the addition of cowboys playoff cards should give 1-2 upgrades plus i fully expect Trevon to get a TOTY card and probably Parsons. Tyron Smith and Zach Martin are due for an upgrade plus a few Ultimate Legends cards could come out.
I can Imagine by the time superbowl drops I can have that 95 overall team and likely showing 2-3 99 cards on offense and defense.
Go for it, I think it allows you to play a lot more focused since you can drop your Lawrence Taylor ROLB for a Dware. You don't spend time looking for anything other than positions of weakness, for example, Cowboys have an 88 C as the best card, i put 95 Kevin Mawae here. Unless Their current center gets an upgrade or Travis Fredrick makes an appearance, Mawae will likely be pretty close to end game for me.
25/50 is doable...but is it worth the time? I run the cards that represent players I like(d) and/or best my coin can afford. Hitting 25 gives several +1s, the most impactful being speed. Now the "is it worth it" comes into who that speed impacts. The majority of time if I want one or two more speed on my WRs or CBs...or whoever...I just go get a card two faster than the one I got. I do check and see if I'm close to a TT level (for example sitting at 13 of a team) and will go out and grab a couple backups to hit whatever level. I turn my team over often (consistently strive too upgrade), So committing to a TT is overly restrictive for the team I try and build. Having typed all that...there are upsides to TTs.
It might be too much work to get to 50, especially if you might stop playing in a month
I never played with a theme team before. I like playing with a ton of different cards so I never started one. I have about 1.7 mill currently and the team is a 94. is it worth starting a partial theme team as the market comes down or are we at a part of the year where all cards will be juiced with the strat cards?
Thanks y’all!
