Finalist for HOF at some point or obvious HOFer who just retired (Fitz, Drew Brees)
Here is my theory. Some of these good but not great ULs* were supposed to be released as part of the Campus Heroes 3 program. EA decided it wasn't worth their time and they added them as "ULs". While these additions are nice, I hope I don't lose out on guys like Urlacher, Sayers, and Butkus (wish he would join madden).

They need a total of 5 points, point for each pro bowl, All- pro team selection, League MVP & all-decade team. So the current ULs that do not meet this criteria:

Personally, all I care about is how the card plays in the game. I couldn't care less who EA chooses to label an "Ultimate Legend." They're not voting on HOF induction or All-Pro status. They're merely choosing what to call a card in a video game. I don't get why that upsets some people as much as it does. With few exceptions, the real life greats have received real life honors; what does it matter how a video game company chooses to characterize a player?
I think if you had a stretch of at least 2-3 years where there was an argument you were the best at your position quality’s you to be an Ultimate Legend.

I don't think the issue is the player selection. Sure you got the itch to complain because of Kerney being the LTD this week. Kerney was a very good player and had 2-3 pretty dominant years - especially that first year with SEA. Certainly not a legend but they have had so many worse picks.
I think what sets people off is that this dude that played like a mini-BruceSmith has 95 speed as well as some other inflated stats. No. Just no. It basically means they could care less who the player was and will just give "nextlegendhere" 96 speed at DE and so on. If they had to give him stats based on who he was plus the 99 OVR aspect yea whatever and good enough. But Kerney can currently cover John Ross on a streak. Completely ruins the aspect of unique cards.
I don't really care as long as the cards are good. I don't care if an average NFL player gets a legend or UL card in this game. It's a fantasy team building mode and there have always been instances of unknown average players at best getting UL or legend cards. In all fairness though I would think that EA has the rights to do many good-great players that they would have many available players to choose from that were stars, hall of famers or legends but I don't know the details of how all that works and if they have to pay a player extra money to use their card and name.
hall of famers or people with 3+ pro bowls. Others can be team diamonds.
Been retired for at least 24 hours. Played at least 1 game in the NFL. Can be living or deceased……….oh wait……….that’s the current criteria.
I think hall of famers or at least several 1st team all pros. Also, super freaks like Bo Jackson who were injured or otherwise would have been superstars.

Hall of Famers should be UL's, and players with historical or legendary significance
Just because you haven't heard of them doesn't mean they aren't worthy. Falcons fans know who Kerney is. If Bednarik got an UL most ppl would hate but Eagles fans would be ecstatic.
I don’t mind it. People always complain we get the “same” players every year. I love seeing new names and learning about their NFL career, weather they are HOF worthy or not
On the one hand, we are getting more players than ever in the game. On the other, “Legend” is highly questionable, much less “Ultimate Legend”.
The best ever for the team. Like Derrick Brooks is known as the best Bucs ever. (Glares at EA)
It doesn’t matter what it is, there will still be all kinds of complaints.
I feel like the Legend program across the board had some true legends of the game. Every week we get some real head scratchers for this “Ultimate Legend” program. What are your thoughts for what should be the criteria for an ultimate legend?
