"Combine Players in Lineup" - How to get combine players?

This is what I did, I wish they did give a couple extra for people who are low on coins.
I bought a random RB, RG, LG - put them in my lineup with CJ. Played one solo and completed the objective. You can use scouts or auction house or buy a pack.
You can also get them from the other packs, not just Scout Rewards. They may add some free ones at some point, but right now, looks like the 97+ for 5 Badges seems to be the only freebie.

do I have to buy combine player packs with scouts or from the AH to fulfill the "Play a game with at least 4 Combine Players in your lineup" objective? or do we get players from solos? I quicksold the 85 CJ (maybe a bit prematurely, didn't think of this objective that moment) and we get a 97 star by completing the se, that's all I can think of right now.
