I'll preface this by saying that I am not a no money spent player. My first year of Mutt was 21 so I wasn't around before power ups existed. With that being said, I think that this decision regarding power ups is all about money. NMS players often power up power up cards to right below their max level. For them, training is oftentimes cheaper than the card needed. Then they come back and buy the needed card when the value goes down and/or when they get their hands on a power up pass.
Now, the base Elite that powers up will not only not decrease in value over time - but they'll actually increase. Cards holding value is about money, as we rip packs to buy coins to get cards. That's what EA wants us to do. Now, NMS will need coins to buy these cards. More money spent. You couple this with no MUT master, another free square for all of us but huge for NMS players, and it looks even more like their intent. It also seems as if power up passes are a thing of the past.
How was it being NMS before power ups were in the game? To me, it looks like the only cards that will have power ups are cards that have no elite (Legends, many Campus Heroes from last year, etc). What do you guys think?
