For the past three years I have been using the 46 formation (normal formation with the speed package) and it has been very successful for me. It helps stop the run, pass, and scrambling QBs. This year I went the extra mile and switched solely to the 46 defensive playbook. It is the only playbook with the 46 normal formation while still using the 3-4 defense as a base. Typically, the 46 normal defense is built around the 4-3 playbook. I wanted to share how I use it and what players/ player types work well in it.
Disclaimer: Like anything new, you will have to lab it and get comfortable. Its not going to automatically shut out opponents for you but rather give you another option in case you are currently scratching your head on D. I will breakdown positions based on best player fits. I also run a 50/50 Rams theme so my position examples will feature a lot of Rams players. I also never run man. This playbook works well for zone formations only IMO!
