I heard one of their PR people doing a mia culpa last year on what they did to Salary Cap mode and more importantly, Salary Cap players. So I anticipated them making it more accessible, more rewards, more visibility. Impressively they did the opposite. A single-elimination tournament that cost a lot to enter and is played with reduced HUD at ALL MADDEN difficulty? I honestly just want someone that was involved in the decision making process on this to explain it. Especially since the tournaments use a cap and there is a reason players have a CAP figure at all. There should be 3 different CAP modes, not one CAP killing mode. Hell, the default in UT should be a cap of some sort. I see how it monitarily works against the "pay $100 for one player" model they are going for, but god damn, let a plumber play this game with his school teacher and doctor/lawyer friends.
As this is the only mode I'm interested in playing in Madden, I now have no reason to spend any money on Ultimate Team this year, so it will save me a few hundred dollars. I also now get nothing at all out of solos, so, kind of good for me, I don't have to do those, they are not fun and feel like a part-time job anyway. I guess I'll buy some tickets for draft champions to spend the $50 I stupidly wasted right away. For those that follow my site, you can imagine how my online review of UT is going to go this year.
