Bleacher Report just put out a tweet suggesting that the NFL should adopt Home Field Advantage for the SB game as well as the rest of the playoffs. The majority of the comments within that tweet were against the idea due to the NFL being the only sports league that determines the champion in a single game and not a series.
With that being said, what do you guys think of the idea? Should home field advantage carry into the Super Bowl as well? Or is the format fine the way it is with the championship being played on a neutral site?
No. NFL Playoff Games are like game 7s for every game. No way the SB should have home field advantage.
Quote from mrnfl123 >> Quote from CantPlayMadden >> Interesting. I would say yea, because the NBA does that, but the SB is the 5x bigger than that, and like 150x bigger than baseball. So it's better for the new and bigger arenas to host the event.
LOL, where in the world did you get these stats?
I think the SB isbest as it is where communities know its coming and plan way ahead for it
Bad. It takes a lot for the people behind the scenes to prepare for a SB as opposed to a regular or even playoff game.
Said no, but neutral isn't really fair either unless they go to all cities, weather and acclamation to it do give a team an advantage imo.
Yet another horrible idea put out by Bleacher Report. I want to like them, I really do, but they’re so cringe all the time. Nothing will compare to their articles about Christianity Ronaldo tho... the whole point of those articles are to kiss ass and it makes me want to vomit.
Now about the idea, it wouldn’t work for football because it is a one game finals, unlike basketball or baseball. Games can be much more unpredictable and it is important to maintain this while avoiding beneficial factors such as home field advantage. For baseball and basketball, they alternate back and forth which gives both teams a chance. Aside from this though, do you know how long it takes cities to prepare for the Super Bowl? They put a ton of time, money, and effort into planning for this weekend, which wouldn’t be possible in only a two week span. They pick the locations years ahead for a reason.
Edit: I also want to add that if this was in place, Foxborough would have made such a ridiculous amount of money that wouldn’t be able to be distributed around the league’s sites to promote league-wide growth.
I don't like the idea at all, last thing I wast to see is a go to one of these city that is like -25 right now. There is nothing fun about a game like that to me
Terrible idea. Home field advantage is a big advantage in the playoffs and like you mentioned, the Super Bowl is a single game.

nope. The only time id say its fair for a advantage is if your playing in your own stadium by chance, like if the falcons went this year, otherwise no
Bad, unfortunately.
Green Bay could never house all the media and events that go along with the Super Bowl. I think we could say that about 6-8 NFL cities.
And more often than not, this would come down to a tie-breaker. 3 of the last 5 years, the participants have had the same record. Which tie-breaker do you use? No matter which, it can be argued it is/was unfair.
