EA released a new game mode today called Superstar KO Mode! This new mode combines Superstar X-Factors, custom rules, and unique teams playing in a new stadium to create a brand-new playing experience.
Superstar KO Mode can be played in 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3. Each matchmaking queue is unique and will only match you against an opponent with the same number of players. Next up is team selection. The full list of teams can be found below. Each team has it's own unique strengths, weaknesses, playbooks, uniforms, coaches, and history. After you have selected your team, it's time to draft 3 players from a mix of Superstar X-Factors, Legends, and Icons. As you play and win, you will add a new Superstar of your choosing from your opponent's team until you have 3 on each side of the ball. There are 4 tiers of players to keep in mind:
Once you enter the game, players each get a drive from their own 25-yard line. There are no special teams in Superstar KO, so there are no kickoffs, punts, or field goals, just 75 yards in front of you. If you can score a touchdown, you must go for two. Once your drive is over, your opponent takes over with the same goal. If they match your score, we go to a tiebreaker. Otherwise the game is over. Turnovers in this mode will grant possession at the spot of the ball OR from your own 25-yard line, whichever is better field position. If the game is still tied after each team's possession, the game goes to OT where Tug-of-War decides a winner. In Tug-of-War the ball is placed at the 50-yard line and each team alternates plays on offense until someone scores or plays run out. If no team scores, the winner will be the team that made it closest to their opponent's endzone.
Winning a game of Superstar KO will reward you with a Superstar of your choosing from your opponent's team to add to your KO squad. Free Agents are only shown if you have a spot on your roster for them. If you have already chosen a Superstar QB, you won’t see another one in future rounds. When you play Superstar KO, you will always receive XP that contributes to your KO level. All games earn you XP, but wins get you bonuses, including a great bonus for going 4-0 and becoming Undefeated Champs. Every week you will have a chance to earn an Ultimate Team reward by playing Superstar KO. These are only once a week, and can’t be repeated. If you are able to reach 10,000 XP this week, you will be rewarded with the following player item:
So what are your thoughts on this new mode? Will you be going at it alone or teaming up with friends?
