Your question doesn't make a lot of sense as there are other ways to get players, I am only referring to players you get from events.  2 RS comet awards here, 5 VET awards there, etc.  Last year, if you were able to grind you go could earn at least a couple of good players.  The HOF event recently was almost like that, where I earned one good player, 86 Rod Woodson, and 2 serviceable players, 82 TD and 82 Urlacher.

I started the day with just over 200000 fans, I am just down to 110,000 --90,000 fans, some were before update, but since update I have been trying to recoup loses, and it is going from bad to worse ... it's crazy, I should just wait, but it is like a gambler who just thinks he will get it next time, I just keep trying to get them back.I had the 86 Byrd made, now I am barely hanging on to the 82.

Yeah, as soon as I realized the max number of collectibles fell, I stopped grinding -- NFL madden mobile they have done a much better job on promos this year, it looked like NBA Live mobile was following suit, but EA keeps screwing up.  I refuse to invest money in EA games because of the screwups they never compensate us for.  last year I spent some money on NBA live and Madden mobile, but in Madden there are almost 10 elite players they owe many over there that were promised and they never delivered, and had similar issues on NBA live this year, that I will play for free, but that is it.  I even cut way down on watching Ads because I don't want to contribute in any monetary, it would feel like I am rewarding their incompetence
