This right here. Cover 4 drop show 2, cover 3 sky and cover 2 with a deep middle third has been way too good over the past few years. I feel better investing in defensive backs that can actually match up against good receivers. Playing zone all the time and watching defensive backs break on a ball before the qb releases was probably the most obnoxious feature in the last few maddens.

This is honestly better than expected.   I fully expected the there would be another cb when there are already 4 options for that position. Set for year at kicker

I doubt even the most thirsty MUT fanatic is done with the new Journey solos yet to find out... give it another 15 minutes or so tho. I just hope the new Bell doesn't cancel out the x3 steelers chem but it would be great to see a x3 to any team.

I am coming around to thinking zone is straight trash this year. You simply cannot run zone defense all game without getting torched. Seeing a LB stand in a hook curl without a player from the opposing defense within 20 yards of him or watching a corner camp out in a hard flat watching a playmaker running down the sideline past him is horrible.

I am coming around to the idea that zone coverage is straight trash this year. It doesn't matter how good your secondary is, with Tyreek, Moss and Rice all at 99 speed, accel, agility and the fact that zone defenders simply dumb out if the ball doesn't come out in the first 3 seconds, you are going to get burned more often than not no matter what. I have been running a lot of man defense lately and feel like this is where the higher end secondary really shines.

Stretch running out of i form pro is my go to against that. Or toss.  Slots out in TE offset if you have  to throw.

I did quite a bit of both early in the year and I don't think either have any impact when running the ball. Given up on both the past few months and running effectiveness is the same as it's ever been.

A lot of good info on passing offense here. Run the ball to beat the blitz. Toss, trap, power, stretch out of iform, single back ace. I don't really care for shotgun running like inside zone as much this year but it is still effective. Try running draws against base zone defense. It also helps to have a mobile QB. I don't really scramble with Vick that much but I like to show that early so they start putting up a spy.    On defense, I think heavy man / zero style blitz bringing your safeties down in the box is probably one of the most effective tactics. You force poor reads, you force them to start blocking extra people, then once you have them doing that, show the same look but change into a cover 2 or cover 4. You can beat heavy man blitzs by throwing to the HB, in , out routes and slants so most people start here. You might be beat deep with a crosser from time to time but most of the time you get a sack.
