To my understanding, you are correct. However the point of the "boss" versions was to give less requirement to having the LTD, and rather providing the ability have the LTD and save on having to get all of the previous versions, and upgrade the cards. Many people were upset last year towards the end about having to find per say, a 91 bo redux or a MUT 10 bo, to upgrade his UL. Not that card specifically, just using him as an example.

Between 20-30$ will get you all the way through lvl 50.

How do you come to that conclusion? Power ups require much more time to add into the game. They not only have to program in which specific cards go into the power ups, but also stats for each step along the way. Whereas a new LTD (which would already be made) is just one card, and one set of stats. Not anywhere near an apples to apples comparison there bud.
