An interesting perspective. Glad you posted it.

Back when I posted this thread, https://www.muthead.com/forums/madden-nfl-mobile/madden-nfl-mobile-discussion/1428009-my-two-cents-is-ea-really-the-problem, I also mailed a letter version of it to Mr. Goodell...sans pictures. Complaining to EA, as evidenced by the quote posted by Bouncer, has done nothing, and will continue to do nothing. Getting the NFL to take notice is our Obi-Wan Kenobi moment. (I am sorry that I just portrayed us all as Princess Leia...although she is a badass.)

The solution may be in the position title itself. The use of the word "community" seems to mean something quite different to EA than it does to a decent slice of MHers. Going one step further, perhaps their bullhorn to the "community" should be nameless and faceless. The unnecessary burden a person such as HSD suffers due to divergent opinions of what that job is, makes no sense. That position will never be what MH, or the gaming public thinks it should be. EA can't seem to understand that and the cycle is doomed to be repeated. Price, HSD, the next one, the next one, the next one. A needle stuck in the groove, (an analogy for those of you old enough to cherish vinyl), and it is just as annoying. It is a problem that is easily solved...one way or another. Even knowing there will be no communication would be better than false expectations of getting said communication, or worse yet, pre-determining on one's own what that communication should look like.

Can't quite remember when the "community manger" thing, became a thing. Thing is, the thing they implied that position to be is an entirely different thing than the thing it actually is. I seem to recall the announcement was made with a bit of fanfare, this promising conduit, EA directly to MH, amongst other duties. In the moment, I was intrigued. And it all made sense: EA spending extra attention to a highly engaged group of customers. You know the shortest line...

Here's the posting I would like to see: Wanted: Game Developer Seeking developer to build and maintain a mobile football game based on the National Football League. The Challenge Ahead Should be simple. We want a mobile football game version that works. Based on football. (I mean, fantasy football is "a thing", sure, but we don't think an entire game should be built around it.) Responsibilities Manage a team of people who actually know what football is. Not know OF football...KNOW football. Those being actual fans of the game might be best suited for this job. (I guess the people coloring stuff in don't need to know football...no, they probably should, or the jerseys will most likely end up super funky) Anticipate people who are bad at their job, and work with them to improve. If that doesn't work, replace them.

From page 10 as referenced above: "Mobile delivered net bookings of $152 million, up 1% year on year, with growth in our FIFA franchise on mobile mostly offset by a decline in Madden Mobile. The Madden team is working hard to turn this around, adding new social features, new game modes and competitive tournaments. We have two updates out already, and a major update coming in December. FIFA Mobile also has a long list of new features coming."
