Quote from Waterchickens31 >> Personally I could really care less if I am able to obtain the players for free or grind out whatever the rewards are. The fact that you have to minor in rocket science to figure it all out is the part I don't like. ^^ This. Promos are impossibly complex for casual players. So EA fixed that; there aren't any casual players any more. The last game of the 10th week of the NFL season is on tonight, but you wouldn't know it by playing this game. You wouldn't have an inkling that some very good games, major deciders approaching the playoffs, happened yesterday. Some stars shone, some went out (got hurt for the season).

1) I quit before MF and have not looked back. I still have the game installed but haven't opened it up in at least a week. Check back here to see if I should... nope 2) The absolute NEED for promos to exist in order for the average user to engage the app, is a HUGE red flag. The core game is boring and useless to the average user. Way on the other end, the promos are way overcomplicated and most often have NOTHING to do with football. 3) We are in the 10th week of the actual NFL season, just had a game last night, big games coming up this weekend. Why is the game so dead, when this is the absolute time to be most alive? The entire structure and philosophy behind the game is broken, since it completely ignores what is happening on the field(s), right now. Who are the hottest players, hottest teams, best matchups? Who got hurt and is out for the season (and why are they still in this game)? Who is in the lead in their divisions, who is up for MVP, rookie of the year, coach of the year so far, etc? There is no connection (other than the least amount of effort possible, in game "events" when someone scores; sometimes; even that's sporadic and often busted) to the real game of FOOTBALL.

Quote from Shemmar2K >> Clash Royale for me yup and Blocky Football. Srsly, Blocky Football is way more entertaining (and less frustrating) than OD. I know exactly what to do, what I'm playing for, and it's actually more about football than OD. Run for TDs and kick XPs. Pick up 3 keys to unlock a spin, pick up 9 Lombardi trophies to unlock a guaranteed new character. No bats, beetles, popcorns, potions, feathers, tokens of 9 varieties, no changing the rules mid-promo, no degrading cards, no NTOs, no spamming, no Scott.... It's such a dumb game, it's fun. The way MM used to be.

Quote from ickyswood >> Quote from owchippy2 >> small sample size but of the ~20 people I know who played every year the past 4, only 1 is still playing. I held out as long as I could but couldn't take it any more, quit a week before MF and could not be happier. Reading threads here on MUTHead every once in a while reinforces my decision. Nothing has changed. I read here about some event that gave a (decent) free player or something, I logged in then to see what was up, couldn't figure it out, so I left again.

EA has vastly over-thought and over-complicated a game that used to be rather simple - it used to be this: play football. Grind for players or pay to get them faster/before everyone else. The players and teams kinda reflected what was going on with the real season (GameChangers, TOTW, .. who was it, Pro Football weekly?... had a player or two every week that did a great job, they'd be featured...?, RTTR...). Now it's a confusing mess that's completely disconnected from the sport, because the people running the app don't even watch football, and the programmers developing it (don't even talk about QA) don't understand it either. Popcorn, bats, beetles? What does that have anything to do with football?

What the answers were, were meaningless. This happens where I work also. Classic people management trick. It's the act of putting out a survey, that matters, so that users FEEL like they're being listened to, that their concerns are being voiced, stored, acted upon. Of course they aren't, going right into a database and never being looked at again. When I was in Europe over the summer, at the airport in Barcelona, outside of the bathrooms at you walk out there's a post with top on it about the size of a dinner plate, with 4 big buttons with emojis. Simple interface: Mad (red), sad (orange), meh (yellow), and happy (green). In a couple of languages on the top it says to push a button to express your satisfaction with the condition of the bathrooms. So everyone walks out, and (ew if they didn't wash their hands) pushes a button. I have a picture of it but don't care to waste my time to post it. It's not connected to anything, doesn't do anything, other then let people FEEL like they're being listened to (and pass around germs). The janitorial staff come on a clock schedule every hour to clean regardless of whatever buttons people push.

Quote from fuzziedunl0p >> Looks like my decision to stay far away from this game is still the right move. Of anything said in this thread, ^^^ is what I agree with the most. I stopped logging in a week before MF and it's been the best decision I've made in a long time. Hours of my life back. I don't think being sweet, or nice, or asking politely, is going to change a GD thing on EA's part. The only way is to collectively STOP BUYING AND STOP PLAYING. Their core metrics are based on downloads/updates from each store, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Active Users (DAU,WAU, MAUs) and how much each category spends in real $$$. If you're logging in and playing for free, you're still making them money because then they can tell advertisers (Snickers, Skittles, whoever is dumb enough to pay for video views for Madden Cash) we have X number of users, we can charge you Y more than the base rate for the campaign. If you don't log in, you don't give them their number, they don't have an incentive to change. Secondly, if you don't log in, you don't pay for anything. The main revenue source of this game is obviously in app purchases, but don't let them even get that chance!
