Only way to play a friend is to go to competitive, Overdrive, then choose play a friend. It will be a live pvp match with Overdrive gameplay.

I would have like to have seen fuel also. I think that would have gotten a lot of people to play in the tourney.

Agree. I like the increased difficulty. Still some arena issues to work out, but steps in the right direction IMO.
